Haskovo district is one of the most strategic districts of Bulgaria, not only because of the fact that it borders Turkey and Greece, but also because of its good contacts with the best developed Bulgarian districts. Haskovo district abounds in unique natural and historical sights, as well as in perfectly preserved relics from some of the earliest times - the Thracian and the Roman periods.
Part of the district covers the Eastern Rhodopes area, which is famous for its original beauty and the diversity of birds of prey, many of which cannot be found in other parts of Europe and the rest of the world. In some of the eleven municipalities, included in the district, there are rich deposits of semi-precious stones, which is a prerequisite for the development of jewelry arts. Others are abundant in healing mineral springs and accommodation facilities and third, very well known production and sales of famous wine brands.
