Kardjali district is one of the most wonderful parts of beautiful Bulgaria. 226 days of the year are sunny. The climate is favourable and the region has been inhabited since ancient times. So, the traditions of different peoples and religions are kept in the district. People are engaged mostly in metallurgy, machine manufacturing, tobacco and food processing industry. In the high mountain parts of the region small-scale agricultural production is spread like tobacco and potato growing but we are looking for other alternatives - the growing of non-traditional plants for extracting essential oils as well as further development of livestock breeding. The infrastructure of the district offers good opportunities for modern communications and foreign investments. The climate is mild and soft, very much influenced by the Mediterranean. That is the reason for the great variety of rare animals and vegetation.
The mild climate, the rivers, the two big dams full of fish, the rare flora in the district and the neighbourhood with Greece and Turkey contribute to the harmony of people, nature and business.
