The Bulgarian Tourist Chamber (BTC) is a non-profit organisation. It unites on a voluntary basis national, regional and local brand organisations and councils, companies from hotel & restaurant business, tour operators and tour agents, companies and organisations related with the tourist industry and fully capable persons. BTC was founded in March 1990. It is the first non-government trade, tourism organisation in Bulgaria. BTC performs the functions of a non-profit federal union of Bulgarian and foreign organisations (companies) and fully capable persons with purpose to coordinate, organise and manage the joint activities in the Bulgarian tourist industry. One of the priorities of the Chamber is to actively cooperate with the Bulgarian government in drafting legislation on the tourist industry and tourism related issues, conformed to the EU directives and international practice in tourism. The principal objective of the BTC is together with the Bulgarian Association of Travel Agents (BATA), the Bulgarian Hotel & Restaurant Association (BHRA) and the other organisations in tourism to generalise and submit for solution to the government bodies the problems of tourism, connected with defending the interests of employers and of tourist and commercial site owners. The Bulgarian Tourist Chamber is in close cooperation with Bulgarian and international educational institutes in tourist area - Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, Russian International Academy, University of Munich and many others. BTC is a regular member of Bulgarian Industrial Association, whose chairman sits on the BTC Management Board.
